Study art, make the world a better place

In my art class, we have prompts that make us think about the deeper meaning of simple topics. One of our prompts was “be the change you wish to see” and the focus of this prompt was to resemble how can you bridge the gaps in society. I thought a lot about the huge conflicts in the world today and there are so many I could think of which concerned me. I finally settled on the conflict of humans and nature, and how nature and humans are struggling to live on the same earth together. I thought about how humans need nature to survive, but constantly destroy it in order to live. Humans constantly destroy nature in order to live, but in the end if nature is destroyed too much, then no one will live. Global warming is the biggest conflict between humans and nature. In my piece, I showed humans causing forest fires in my piece, but then I was struggling to find a bridge between these two gaps. This prompt made me think about what are simple things that people can do, to try and help to solve a huge conflict. It was overwhelming thinking about how this conflict could ever be solved, and it made me fearful that this conflict could never be solved. I finally realized, that huge conflicts like these are solving by simple things, but many people coming together to do these simple things. A conflict like global warming is overwhelming and seems unsolvable, but if every single person in this world did a simple thing, like planting a tree, or picking up trash, the world could become such a better place. I showed a person planting a tree in my piece to represent the conflict being solved. This simple prompt made me think about how I can help the huge conflicts of the world, by doing simple things.
